Dan Starr began guiding in 2002. Since then Dan has guided rock and alpine climbs throughout the Teton Range, the Wind River Range, the North Cascades, on Mount Rainier, in the Alaska Range, and in the Khumbu region of Nepal. A passionate ski mountaineer and professional ski patrolman in Jackson Hole since 2000, Dan has guided ski descents of various peaks including the Grand Teton, several seasons worth of heli-ski descents in Alaska’s Chugach Range, plus exotic ski tours and ski descents on the Antarctic Peninsula and in Argentina’s Tierra Del Fuego. Dan began teaching avalanche courses for the American Avalanche Institute and guiding expeditions on Denali’s West Buttress in 2005. A fifteen-year resident of Jackson Hole, Dan has completed numerous ski descents on virtually every Teton peak. Dan climbed Ama Dablam in a one-day push and guided Lobuje East in Nepal in 2005 and climbed Kilimanjaro and Mount Kenya in 1995. Dan is currently a certified AMGA aspirant guide.
