Disappointment Peak - East Ridge
The East Ridge of Disappointment peak is a short climb with a six-mile approach--but it is worth every foot of it. Its a full-day trip from the Lupine Meadows trailhead. The rock is excellent, the exposure memorable. There are a half-dozen pitches of moderate fifth-class climbing, with many possible variations. The final pitch leads to the huge plateau that covers the top of the peak. More climbing or hiking takes us to the real summit-one of the best in the Tetons.
The usual descent is via the Lake Ledges route and involves a scramble, a rappel, and the long hike back to the valley.
