The Snaz
The Snaz is the classic hard Teton rock climb, and the local standard for anyone wishing to establish their credentials as a 5.10 climber. The route ascends nine pitches of a steep face at the center of massive Cathedral Rock, a buttress at the entrance of Death Canyon. The Snaz has it all. It offers hand and fist cracks (including one famous overhanging crack), spectacular roofs, slabs, and face climbing--all above bombproof anchors. Bring your camera: the photographs are outrageous. If you can climb it in good style, you deserve your credentials. Most parties choose to rappel down the route with series of four long rappels. Hence the descent provides rappel practice and a realistic sense of what is involved in descending a serious rock climb.
