Avalanche Level I Course

Level I course - Photo: Exum CollectionEvening classroom sessions provide an introduction to the interactions of weather, snowpack, and terrain in producing avalanche hazard. During field sessions students will dig snow pits, identify snow layers and practice route finding and avalanche rescue. Participants will learn and practice a variety of stability tests that can be done in the backcountry. The course includes two evening sessions and two days in the field.
