McCarthy back from summer of
Alaska adventures

Forrest McCarthy May 1 - 21: Guided Denali with Exum guide Amy Bullard. High point was 17,200. No summit due to high winds.

May 23 - June 1: Packrafting in Chugach Range. Eagle River, Granite Creek, Resurrection Creek

June 6: Packrafting on Grewinngk Creek in the Chugach Range with Amy McCarthy, Ralph and Sheri Tingey

June 10 - 11: Packrafting traverse of the Alaska Range from Cantwell to Denali Highway via Windy Pass and Sanctuary River with Amy McCarthy, Ralph Tingey, and others.

Forrest McCarthy June 20 - 21: Packrafting on Nuterwik Creek and Dietrichs Fork in the Brooks Range

June 22 - 30: McCarthy met with researchers at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, and then drove up the Dalton Highway to Prudhoe Bay visiting with several research groups along the way.

July 1 - 9: Raft and packraft trip on Canning River from Marsh Fork to Brownlow Point on the Arctic Ocean with George Schaller, Jonathan Waterman, Gary Kofinas, and others. Sponsored by the National Geographic Society.

July 12 - 14: Field trip at the head of the Sheenjek River with George Schaller, Jonathan Waterman, Gary Kofinas, and others. Sponsored by the National Geographic Society. McCarthy repeated 30 historic photographs for climate change documentation. National Public Radio's Elizabeth Arnold covers the trip in a Radio Expedition.

Forrest McCarthy
July 15 - 20: Foot and packraft traverse from Last Lake on the Sheenjek River to Kaktovik via the Hulahula River. This trip entailed 50 miles of wilderness trekking and over 100 miles of floating.

What's next for McCarthy? He is set to guide two multi-day Wind River trips in August and then its off to Antarctica in October, November, and December.
