Equipment Lists

The quality and function of your equipment are key elements to your safety and enjoyment during a climb or school with Exum Mountain Guides. Alpine mountains are wild places where the weather can change rapidly, with thundershowers, wind, rain, and even snow. You need clothing that keeps you warm and dry-that wicks away moisture (not cotton!). Layering your clothing gives you a better handle on controlling your temperature.

Select from the options below to obtain an equipment list for the program(s) that interest you. Please print the pages that interest you so you may refer to them as you plan equipment for your trip. Unless listed as "optional," the items listed are essential to participate. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.

For all classes, climbs and multi-day trips, Exum provides technical climbing equipment, ropes, helmets, harnesses, ice axes, tents, cooking equipment, tents, and avalanche beacons. Exum rents crampons for $15 for two days, approach shoes for $10/day, Salomon snow boots for $15 for two days, and trekking poles for $10/day. This gear also may be rented at Teton Mountaineering in Jackson (307-733-3595) or at Moosely Seconds in Moose (307-739-1801).
