Wind River Trips
Early July to Late September

The Wind River Mountains of west central Wyoming are one of America's most spectacular wilderness ranges. This vast 110-mile uplifted spine offers limitless climbing and hiking in a remote setting.

The jagged peaks of the northern range are draped with the largest glaciers in the American Rockies and abound with climbs of all lengths and difficulties. The central range, with its hundreds of walk-ups and easy technical peaks, is known by explorers for broad valleys, high ridges and trout-choked lakes. The southern Winds are one of America's premiere mountain rock playgrounds with dramatic spires and massive walls rising above exquisite meadows and lakes. Both on- and off-trail hikers will relish the Winds' lonely canyons, treeless plateaus, stunning alpine basins and lakes.

Exum is excited to offer custom private climbing and backpacking trips into this mountain paradise (some group trips are offered as well). Climbing trips are based out of a camp in one or two areas. Backpackers may plan loops and traverses that link several areas. Our guides will help you select treks and climbs that suit your abilities and aspirations. Exum operates in the Winds under special use permits within the Bridger-Teton and Shoshone national forests. These are some of our favorite areas:
