Skiing the Grand requires that you are an expert skier and are comfortable in steep and exposed terrain. It also requires experience climbing easy water ice and steep snow along with comfort moving in crampons through varied terrain. In other words, a ski descent of the Grand is your reward for a commitment to skiing and climbing and just plain putting in time in the mountains. As a life-style, it's one our guides have fully embraced, and we're eager to share it with you.
Prior to signing up for skiing the Grand, we require that you spend considerable time with one or more of our guides training for steep ski descents and learning how to climb mixed, alpine terrain. An excellent first step is either a private program of instruction or our five-day Ski Mountaineering Camp, offered annually in early June. Time spent skiing with our guides working in France and Alaska may also count.
Once you've
skied other peaks and demonstrated a high level of ski mountaineering competency,
it's time to set your sights on what we assure you will be the ski descent
of a lifetime.
